For most of his life, John Constable lived as an outsider, cut off from patronage and the approval of his colleagues, not selling a single picture to a stranger until he was 38 years old, and waiting 27 years for full membership in the Royal Academy.
Fortunately, the world now recognizes his revolutionary genius. And what better day to celebrate that than today, Constable’s 236th birthday?
Hampstead Heath is pictured here, one of many Constables in our collection.

Character design and story by Anthony Briggs Jr. www.talesfromyod.com
Heres a bit of the zoom for some of the detail im currently working on. Quite an exhausting amount of work goes into an illustration. Im constantly trying to push myself and grow as an artist. I feel my personal style is still very much developing and I am excited to see where it will be 5 years down the road.
Tip: on a busy multi-character scene such as this that can have equally as busy of a background such as forest its important to not over detail it. I recommend leaving it a bit more soft and let the large masses and forms read faster by not over working the details in them.
